Krrish is not ready to return anytime soon. PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan have mutually parted ways with Siddharth Anand on the highly anticipated ‘Krrish 4’ due to scheduling conflicts.
Siddharth Anand was supposed to co-produce this film alongside Rakesh Roshan, with ‘Agneepath’ fame Karan Malhotra on board to direct it. While Karan’s involvement remains uncertain, Siddharth is believed to have stepped away from the film as he had to step in to direct his home production, ‘King’ starring Shah Rukh Khan. Given the ambitious scale and complexity of ‘Krrish 4,’ the project demanded Siddharth’s undivided attention from pre-production through completion — a commitment he could not fulfill while simultaneously spearheading ‘King’.
“Siddharth is now fully occupied as both producer and director of 'King', which is scheduled to begin filming in May and continue through the end of the year. This created a timeline clash with 'Krrish 4', which was tentatively slated to commence production by the end of 2025. Rather than delaying the project further, Siddharth and the Krrish 4 team mutually decided to part ways and focus on their respective projects. This decision is purely a matter of scheduling misalignment and not related to budgetary concerns. All reports doing the rounds regarding the budget are untrue,” a source close to the development told us.
The source further clarified that Hrithik and Siddharth share a strong relationship and are already in discussions for future collaborations once their current assignments are wrapped up. Representatives for both Siddharth Anand and the 'Krrish 4' team have officially confirmed the news, emphasizing that the separation was amicable and in the best interest of both parties.
The scheduling clashes are believed to have emerged after Siddharth Anand took over the directorial responsibilities of ‘King’ from Sujoy Ghosh, who left the film to pursue a different creative vision. The ‘Kahaani’ director reportedly stepped away from the project as he felt constrained by the film’s large-scale action format, preferring to focus on projects more aligned with his cinematic sensibilities. Siddharth, who was earlier associated with the project only as a producer, eventually stepped in to direct it himself, paying his full attention to ‘King’ and leaving little room for involvement in ‘Krrish 4.’
Despite Siddharth’s exit, the film is far from being shelved, as is being speculated in the media. The film is very much in active development, with Rakesh Roshan working diligently to refine a script and align it with a feasible budget. “With Indian audiences now accustomed to Hollywood superhero films, ‘Krrish 4’ must meet international standards. But, since we cannot match Hollywood budgets, the challenge lies in delivering a world-class story within a realistic financial framework. Rakesh Ji has struck the balance, and the project now moves forward to lock in the technical team," a trade source familiar with the development explained.
Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan will next feature in Yash Raj Films' highly anticipated ‘War 2’, which releases in theatres on August 14. He is expected to follow that with ‘Krrish 4’ by the end of this year. Additionally, the ‘Fighter’ actor is also discussing projects with several directors and producers, but he hasn't signed any projects yet.
