Tamil filmmaker Atlee’s fascination with a double-role narrative is well known. From ‘Mersal’ and ‘Bigil’ to ‘Jawan’, Atlee’s penchant for multiple roles has become a hallmark of his directorial vision. As he prepares for his most ambitious project with Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, it comes as no surprise that Atlee is continuing this trend with this film as well.
PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Allu Arjun will play twin brothers in Atlee’s next mega-scale mainstream entertainer. Sources say this project is an action-packed spectacle set in a parallel universe. Fresh off the historical success of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ Allu will adopt two distinct looks to portray what would mark his first double role in two decades of acting. Atlee and Allu are expected to shoot a badass promo next week to officially announce the film on the latter’s birthday on April 8.
Produced by Sun Pictures, this theatrical biggie has undergone significant revisions in the past few months. Initially conceived as a two-hero project featuring Salman Khan alongside a leading South Indian superstar, with a reincarnation subplot, the script has been heavily restructured following Allu Arjun’s casting. The reincarnation angle has been removed, and the narrative now centers solely on Allu Arjun, with both key roles essayed by him. Sources suggest that casting another major superstar alongside him proved challenging, particularly after the unprecedented success of ‘Pushpa 2,’ prompting the makers to rework the script as a solo vehicle for Allu Arjun. Instead of a reincarnation-themed period drama as planned earlier, A6 is now a VFX-heavy parallel-universe action entertainer.
Atlee is currently fine-tuning the script, with Allu Arjun actively contributing creative inputs to enhance its mass appeal. The yet-untitled film will feature three heroines and an ensemble supporting cast, and the idea is to bring together actors from both the North and South Indian film industries to create a pan-India cinematic experience. Pre-production is slated to commence next month, and although the shooting timelines haven't been locked yet, they aim to start shooting around August- September. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated Allu Arjun-Atlee film, termed as #A6 and #AA22.
