The Allu Arjun-Atlee action spectacle has reportedly locked its leading lady. PeepingMoon.com has learned that Mrunal Thakur will be paired opposite the ‘Pushpa 2’ star in Sun Pictures' mega-budget entertainer tentatively titled #AA22xA6.

Mrunal underwent a look test at a Mumbai studio yesterday to play one of the film’s three female leads. Sources say she will be romantically paired with Allu Arjun’ and will don a look different from her previous South Indian film roles. Deepika Padukone and Janhvi Kapoor are being considered for the other female leads. And while Janhvi is said to be close to signing, negotiations with Deepika are still ongoing.

Allu Arjun had lauded Mrunal’s performance in ‘Hi Nanna’ (2023) and the actress is eager to collaborate with the Telugu superstar. Their pairing in Atlee’s film fulfills the aspirations of both actors and their fans, promising a captivating onscreen chemistry. The film marks Mrunal’s fifth Telugu film, following her acclaimed performances in ‘Sita Ramam’ (2022), ‘Hi Nanna’ (2023), ‘The Family Star’ (2024), and the upcoming ‘Dacoit: A Love Story.’

AA22xA6 is envisioned as a high-concept, VFX-driven actioner set in a parallel universe. Allu Arjun plays his career-first double role. Leading special effects companies from Los Angeles have been brought on board to map out the film's ambitious visual palette, as seen in the announcement video released earlier this month.

Pre-production has begun, and although the shooting timelines haven't been locked yet, Allu Arjun and Atlee are looking at August-September. Given the film’s scale, it requires extensive preparation, and the team is ensuring everything is in place before cameras start rolling. “This is the film I have always dreamed of making, and it’s taken years of quiet work to shape the screenplay into something I truly believe in,” Atlee had said while announcing the film. “The film is mass at its core and magical in its storytelling, crafted to move and entertain audiences worldwide.”

The Allu Arjun and Atlee film is a significant addition to Mrunal’s expanding filmography. She currently has three Hindi films and one Telugu-Hindi bilingual lined up, which include Ajay Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar 2,’ David Dhawan’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai,’ Maddock Films' ‘Pooja Meri Jaan,’ and Adivi Sesh’s ‘Dacoit: A Love Story.’
