PeepingMoon Exclusive: Vivek Dahiya and I gave extra love to each other to make up for the days we'll be away- Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 contestant Divyanka Tripathi

Television's popular and one of the most loved bahus, Divyanka Tripathi, is all set to face and overcome her fears in Rohit Shetty-hosted Khatron Ke Khiladi 11. The adventure-based reality show is being shot in Cape Town, South Africa. Apart from Divyanka, the contestants are Abhinav Shukla, Nikki Tamboli, Rahul Vaidya, Shweta Tiwari, Sourabh Raaj Jain, Arjun Bijlani, Varun Sood, Sana Makbul, Vishal Aditya Singh, Anushka Sen and Aastha Gill.

Divyanka, who is currently in Cape Town with the team of Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, spoke to PeepingMoon.com about participating in the show and overcoming her fears. Calling herself an "adventure junkie", the actress said she is excited as well as nervous. Divyanka also spoke about staying away from her husband Vivek Dahiya for a long time.

Excerpts from the interview:

Divyanka Tripathi is a name that is associated with strong characters and the work you have done. How do you feel about it?

I’m humbled but I think it is because of the variety of work that I have done and the diversity in content that I choose to work for. I tried to never repeat the same character and took up challenges where I wasn’t even sure whether I will be able to deliver. But I tried, I learnt and moulded myself according to the character and the requirement of the project. It just worked. I think it is all about believing in what you do and my belief in myself has let me reach where I am today.

You are doing Khatron Ke Khiladi 11. Why did you sign it?

I have always been an adventure junkie. But unfortunately, I never got an opportunity to experience as much as I would like to. Every time I watched Khatron Ke Khiladi, I would think to myself that it would be so amazing to be among the reptiles doing all the stunts and battle with my own fears. Luckily, I got the offer at the right time.

Are you scared of what awaits you in Khatron Ke Khiladi 11?

Yes, I am a bit scared. That is what makes it worthwhile and exciting. Where else would I put myself in danger? When else will I get a chance to conquer my fears? So, this is it! I’m excited and nervous too.

What are your expectations from the show?

I want to perform as many stunts as possible with great success. I want to remember them for years to come and told those stories to my grandchildren.

After Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, what kind of projects will you be interested in?

I would love to be a part of good quality web shows. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

What's your take on OTT? Will you be doing more web shows now?

I’m totally an OTT audience. I’m hooked to it. I feel the content on OTT is daring, out-of-the-box and they take chances. They are unabashed. Thankfully they aren’t driven by TRPs or box office expectations. They have more freedom in terms of storytelling and content creation. It is more satisfying for an actor and for makers too.

Is Bollywood something you aspire to be a part of?

Yes, absolutely. That should be the next step. Jab main film dekhti hu aur voh joh experience hai, 2 ghante mein ek kahaani ka hissa hona aur uss kahaani mein ek gehri chaap chodna ki voh aapko zindagi bhar yaad reh jaye, kirdaar bhi aur kahaani bhi, main kuch vaisa karna chahti hu. I have faith in myself and mujhe maalum hai that I have the potential. I am waiting for the right opportunity. Aise offers toh bohot aate hai, lekin voh ek sahi offer sahi waqt par mil jaye toh baat ban jaye!

Which filmmaker who you want to work with?

I have got a list of female filmmakers whom I would love to work with. I want to work with Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Gauri Shinde, Meghna Gulzar and Nandita Das. I have seen their work and admired it. When I was watching their films, I felt that this is where I want to begin. I hope I get to work with these powerful women.

You'll be away from your husband Vivek Dahiya for months. Did you prepare for this?

It is not easy for us to stay away for such a long time. I doubt we have ever been away for so long. So, we prepared each other step by step. I ordered extra groceries for him for that he is comfortable. He took care of every item in my luggage so I don’t miss out on anything. It is going to be a very difficult phase for both of us. We shed tears and gave extra love to each other to make up for the days we’ll be away.

What do you think about the current COVID-19 pandemic?

COVID-19 can be the biggest teacher for our generation. We have learnt so much in the last two years. To begin with (on a lighter note), Indians have started following the queue, waiting for their turn, not overloading a lift and maintaining distance, these are some good things we learnt. The pandemic is also teaching us that it is only for a limited time that we are on this Earth and we should make the most of it. We should express our love towards our family and friends. We should not delay in expressing love and gratitude. Sapne jeene ke liye bhi yehi pal hai. In 5 days, the lives of families change.
