#PeepingMoon2017: Fashion Designers Of The Year!

2017 saw some serious fashion from both the men and women of Bollywood. Yes, your favorite A-listers may have impeccable taste or a herd of fashion gurus backing them up, but at the end of day, it all comes to down the men and woman who spend days and even months, on getting that piece of breathtaking garment ready. Say Hello to our B-town fashion designers.

You know the amount of time you spend staring at your wardrobe, wondering what to wear on a day-to-day basis, so imagine what these style beacons go through with the pressure of creating buzz-worthy ensembles. Not only have these fashion God’s dressed some of the crème de la crème of the industry, but more importantly, have made uh-mazing and beautiful ensembles that anyone and everyone from the country would love to don. If you’re wondering which of these guys kept us excited about fashion, all through the year, then make way for fashion designers we loved in 2017.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee

Sabyasachi has been dominating our social-media like no one else. With the #Virushka wedding in full swing, this style savant pretty much tops our list. From Anushka Sharma Kholi’s on point wedding lookbook to Virat’s regale outfits, Mr. Mukherjee pretty much ruled the fashion domain, in 2017.

Case in point: The people of the country were barely done ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ over Virat’s and Anushka’s pastel themed ensemble at their Tuscany wedding, when the designer unleashed his inner maximalist with Anushka’s deep red Benarasi saree, at the Delhi reception.

Falguni and Shane Peacock

Manushi Chillar! Need we say more? Manushi won back India’s glory and pride while donning a body-hugging breathtaking Falguni and Shane number. Their designs are made for the girl who loves standing out! From creating dramatic couture ball gowns (Preity Zinta walking down their runway at Lakme Fashion Week) to helping our A-listers shine brighter than diamonds (Disha Patani at IIFA 2017), Falguni and Shane have had one stellar year. And, we couldn’t be happier for these sartorial genies.

Their collection is known for their strong geometric features that are meant to bring a whole lot sass and va-va-voom to your personality.

Manish Malhotra

One cannot talk about the ruling designers of 2017 without mentioning this sartorial genius. Not only has Manish racked up tons of accolades within the country, but his stellar work has been acknowledged worldwide, too. CC: 'Knight of the Legion of Honour', the highest French civilian distinction, presented to Mr. Manish Malhotra, for his contribution to the world of fashion. From donning the yesteryear actress Sridevi to helping daughter Janhvi be the millennial fashion icon, that she is today; Manish Malhotra’s magical touch forces you to remember the magical touch of King Midas, where the King would turn pretty much anything into gold. That’s the kind of sartorial power our favorite designer seems to possess.

Nikhil Thampi

Nikhil Thampi has been ruling the runway and how! And, we are more than loving it!

But what really took the cake for us was when Nikhil along with muse Esha Gupta paid homage to the late designer Azzedine Alaia.

Gaurav Gupta

His designs remind you of a modern piece of art. The go-to designer for Bollywood’s obsession with big, bold and dramatic. Gaurav clearly believes in the mantra – Go big, or go home! The ace designer’s design, somewhere, make us go back in memory and remember the late Gianni Versace. Remember how Mr. Versace, too, was all about the drama?

Gaurav Gupta’s designs are pretty much a magical fusion of modern and contemporary art meets high ‘Fashion’. We won’t be too surprised if one his designs, just like Mr. Versace’s has its very own wiki page. Oh boy, wouldn’t we love that!

Gauri and Nainika

Fairytales do come true if you plan on donning a Gauri and Nainika ensemble. Remember when Aishwarya Rai sashayed down the Cannes red-carpet in her gorgeous red gown? Or, when Deepika made heads turn recently in her big bow gown?

Make way for the designer duo whose collection is filled with garments that guarantee to leave you in a super happy mood. From the feathers to the whimsical touch, Gauri and Nainika’s design will make sure you have your happy outfit dance, every time.

Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

The designer duo’s names were pretty much trending all through Diwali, courtesy: A-list Diwali bashes. And, just when you were almost about to recover from their desi sartorial goodness, the designers once again bowl you over with Ananya Panday’s Le Ball modern ensemble.

And if that wasn’t enough, Deepika Padukone recently stepped out in a head-to-toe all-white desi ensemble. P.S: The dress had an attached feathered cocktail cape. What more could you ask for, right?

Prabal Gurung and Rahul Mishra

A special shout-out to Prabal Gurung and Rahul Mishra, who pretty much ruled globally! From international runways to taking over Bollywood, these style beacons have been painting our Tinseltown red, in all their fashion-forward designs.
