Sanjay Leela’s Padmaavat clearly needs no introduction. With so much of focus on Deepika and her regal outfits, it was about time we spoke about Shahid Kapoor aka Maharawal Ratan Singh's and Ranveer Singh aka Alauddin Khilji's ensemble. as well.
If you thought Deepika's style in Padmaavat was completely on-point, make way for Padmini’s husband - Shahid Kapoor. The actor who’s seen essaying the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, a symbol of courage, strength, and respect was the most under-noticed character, until now.
The actor, who’s giving our men a serious case of Ab-envy, doesn’t fail to give to make them go green with sartorial envy. Besides making jaws drop in his Maharaja avatar, Bansali’s style team struck gold as they’re seen giving him the finishing royal touches.
From the basic red ‘tika’ to the intricate men’s earrings, Shahid’s regal sartorial avatar will transport you back to the land of Kings and Queens.
Not only does Shahid look like a spitting image of the King of Chittor, with his facial hair and outgrown hair, Mr. Kapoor's extravagant and stunning costumes take our breath away. From the brooches to the antique vintage pins, and even the jewels on his pagadi, every minute detail leaves you completely spellbound.
Shahid looks every bit royal throughout the movie. Our favorite has to be the actor clad in emerald green and orange attire, paired with beaded baubles and a royal turban. Mind you, it’s no ordinary turban, but a turban embroidered with pearls and emeralds, of course!
Another favorite is his Ek Dil Ek Jaan attire, where the actor is seen in a sheer, gold suit with a pair of embellished, to-die-for ‘mojris.’ Designed by the ace designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula, Shahid Kapoor was dripping in royalty.
The design team has stuck to gold, ivory, green and beige hues, while keeping Shahid’s regal look in mind. Quite contrast to Ranveer Singh’s dark color palettes.
From being draped in heavy fabrics, like a Royal King, to romancing Padmini in Achkan and Angrakha silk kurtas, Maha Rawal Ratan Singh had us hooked to our seats.
If Shahid’s softer color scheme impressed you, then Ranveer’s Singh bold, daring and dark hues will leave you stunned. Yes, the first thing that catches your attention is his dark kohled-eyes.
The actor, who’s been the talk of the town for his stellar performance, left us speechless with his menace-exuding negative look.
The anti-hero of the film is seen donning a whole lot of heavily embellished shawls and furry jackets in the film. Fur, being the symbol of Alauddin Khilji's victorious huntings!
From the old rugged fabrics to the jeweled crown and the crooked facial scars, Ranveer nailed the role of Khilji, making him our favorite antagonist, by far!
