The 20th edition of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards which was held yesterday at Mumbai, paved way for oodles of sartorial inspiration as our B-town divas and dapper dudes appeared dressed in their fashionable best. With their opulent looks, sexy silhouettes and magnetic charisma, the tinsel town celebs set ablaze the green carpet of the gala.
Bollywood’s damsel divas opted for all things extravagant for their green carpet appearance. Larger than life gowns, sexy cocktail dresses and OTT ensembles, our tinsel town actresses flaunted them all. While some of them raised the oomph of the soiree, others barely made some heads turn.
Check out the best and the worst fashion moments straight from the green carpet:
SARA ALI KHAN
Sara walked straight out of a fairytale onto the green carpet in her larger-than-life gown, courtesy stylist Lakshmi Lehr. Her strapless billowing gown from label Gaurav Gupta featured delicate feather detailing. Minimal accessories from Irasva and Diamantina added subtle bling to her look. With her hair tied in a chic messy bun and a radiant glam, she cut out a beautiful picture on the red carpet.
MADHURI DIXIT NENE
Making a red hot appearance on the green carpet, Madhuri turned heads with her Tanieya Khanuja number. Styled by Shaleena Nathani, the Dhak Dhak girl made our heart skip a beat with her ruffled, off-shouldered dress. Statement danglers from Sapna Mehta and chunky belt accentuated the look of her outfit furthermore. A messy ponytail and lustrous red lips added a dash of glamour to her look.
MALAVIKA MOHANAN
Malavika cut out a scintillating picture with her sequined mesh gown from Gavin Miguel. Diamond danglers from Flowerchild by Shaheen Abbas added on to the bling affair of her strapless, shimmery cocktail dress. Detailed shimmery eyes, a nude pink pout and soft curls added finishing touches to her look.
MRUNAL THAKUR
Bringing futuristic textures on the green carpet, Mrunal soared high at the gala. Styled by Who Wore What When, Mrunal opted for an edgy and asymmetrical number from label Amit Aggarwal. Thakur opted for a minimal accessory look with just a pair of drop diamond earrings from Zema to let her off shouldered bold silhouette be a standout stunner. A neat centre-parted bun, smokey eyes and a nude pink pout gave justice to her beauty.
RADHIKA APTE
Styled by Who Wore What When, Radhika’s ruffled Gucci number turned a lot of heads at the gala. Colourful Christian Louboutin heels added a pop of colour to her knee-length dress. A dainty necklace from Occasions Fine Jewellery added glamour to her plunging neckline. Shimmery eyes, glossy pout and a chic hairdo accentuated her beauty furthermore.
ADITI RAO HYDARI
Styled by Sanam Ratansi, Aditi added glamour to the soiree with her risqué slit strapless number from Falguni Shane Peacock. A choker neckpiece from the designer’s collection was the only accessory she needed to let her sexy dress do all the talking. Glammed eyes, nude pout and perfectly tousled curls…we are so in love with her look!
NEENA GUPTA
Vouching for comfort and class, Neena graced the green carpet in an off-shouldered number from The House of Masaba paired with a pair of metallic sneaks. A heavy neckpiece from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas added an indie element to her spunky neon attire. Sassy, spunky and sorted!
KATRINA KAIF
Katrina’s embellished thigh-slit lehenga brought shimmers on the red carpet. What we liked about this look were her dramatic floor-length sleeves and a sexy thigh-high slit. A statement necklace accentuated the neckline of her outfit. Kaif opted for unkempt straight tresses and a radiant glam to go with her look. Although given Kat’s red-carpet appearance history, this one feels like a tad bit under.
ALIA BHATT
Styled by Ami Patel, Alia sported a pastel Georges Chakra number which featured dramatic sleeves which were attached to her back. Her corset dress featured a mesh back detailing which was further accentuated with a satin bow. We are all game for this pastel, subtle number although we feel that her bronze glam and fishtail hairdo kind of let her down.
DEEPIKA PADUKONE
Deepika brought oodles of drama with her OTT attire from Gaurav Gupta courtesy, stylist Shaleena Nathani. Her extra AF number featured puffy leather sleeves, feather deets at the hemline and a long train. Heavy diamond danglers added on the bling affair of her strapless custom number. Smokey blended eyes, nude lips and a pulled back bun completed her look. Too much OTT for IIFA maybe?
SWARA BHASKAR
Swara showed up on the green carpet as a vision in white wearing ensembles from Avaro Figlio. She paired her off-shouldered, thigh slit monotone couture with Christian Louboutin heels and bling from Anmol Jewellers. Swara completed her look with shimmery winged eyes, a nude pout and a classy hairdo.
SOPHIE CHOUDRY
Sophie sizzled at the gala with her maroon cut-out dress from label Gauri and Nainika. Her puffy-sleeved, risqué sit couture was amped up furthermore with twisty blings from Farah Khan. A chic ponytail with few strands on the loose and matte pout with rose cheeks accentuated her beauty.
GENELIA DESHMUKH
Genelia looked chirpy and all things pretty in this sequined gown from Manish Malhotra. Her olive-green number featured a thigh-high slit and a sheer plunging neckline. Accessories from the designer’s collection added on to the beauty of her look. With detailed eyes, nude pout and a braided hairdo, she looked IIFA ready.
SAIEE MANJERAKER
Making an appearance at the IIFA was our Dabangg 3 newbie Saiee in an embellished lehenga and muted glam.
While some of them made an exceptional appearance with their dramatic outfits, others failed to impress us big time. Here are few divas that went high on drama with their looks but failed to create magic on the red carpet.
PREITY ZINTA
RADHIKA MADAN
DAISY SHAH
