Despite its devastating impacts on the life and economy, the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic has somewhere eased up the burden on the ecosystem and environment. In times of social distancing, one needs to sit back and introspect the lasting effects of mankind’s actions towards the environment and do their bit to make the world a better place by opting for sustainable measures, in terms of fashion & clothing.
Sustainable fashion is a process of implementing change to the fashion setup that will take into consideration the social and economic aspects of the society at large. According to the definition of Green Strategy, ‘sustainable fashion can be defined as clothing, shoes, and accessories that are manufactured, marketed and used in the most sustainable manner possible, taking into account both environmental and socio-economic aspects.’
In these times of fast-moving fashion, we are responsible for a lot of wastage, depletion of resources at an alarming rate and release toxic chemicals that in turn harms nature. If we wish to thrive and survive on the planet, one cannot deny that sustainability is the key to march forward. Some Indian designer labels have taken note of these things and did their bit of upcycling the world on the path of sustainability. They are inducing organic ways and measures to reduce the damage caused by the fashion industry and support the eco-systems as we should.
So, on the occasion of Earth Day, allow us to present you the Indian labels that have opted for a fashionable route- the sustainable way!
