In the ongoing digital Paris Fashion Week, designer Rahul Mishra unveiled its haute couture collection. Called Butterfly People, Mishra’s sustainable collection was an ode to his artisans and Indian craftsmanship. “I have been trying to rebuild our own ecosystem, getting work to people’s homes. We have recovered embroidery from previous collections, looked for stock fabric in our own storerooms—couriers were also a challenge till the last month. My craftsmen are like butterflies who are here for the nectar of creativity. They are only going to work with us if we create a beautiful garden. Even if we are supporting them financially in a lockdown, what is the greater purpose behind what we are trying to do? Psychologically, it is work that motivates them. Maybe it gives them hope to continue to build a house they wanted. Everyone has dreams, so I think returning to work can provide that comfort to keep it alive,” Rahul said as stated by Vogue.

Intricate designs, 3D embroidery displaying the best of nature and a riot of colors were a prominent part of his collection.

Sequins covering the floor-length gowns, organza capes, sheer face masks decorated with delicate butterflies accentuated the look of his Fall 2020 collection.
