20 years of K3G: Introducing fashion lingos to imparting self-confidence, life lessons that Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Poo passed on to every millennial girl!

It’s been 20 years since Karan Johar blessed us with his directorial masterpiece Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, fondly called K3G. With an A-list ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Jaya Bachchan, this film still has a hold on every millennial heart and continues to be one of the irreplaceable cult classics. Admit it, we can simply never change the channel when it comes on.

From imparting family values to giving fashion lessons, K3G holds a strong fan following panned from the busy streets of 'Chandni Chowk' to London! What's more- it introduced us to Poo! Essayed by B-town’s Bebo, this character still manages to add 'ICON in ICONIC'! A personality way ahead of her time, Pooja a.k.a Poo showed us how to live life on our own terms.

Though Poo wasn’t Kareena’s most favorite character from the lot, but we’ll just agree to disagree here. A screen-icon still worshipped by millions of fashionistas, Poo was everything a girl could dream of. And mind you, we are not talking just about her looks. She was confident, beautiful and unapologetically herself. Without a shadow of a doubt, Bebo’s character taught putting yourself first isn’t a bad thing and there’s nothing wrong with self-love.

So as this icon completes two decades in the industry, here’s looking back at all the lessons Poo passed on to every millennial girl!

LINGOS

Poo’s K3G lingos are something that we still use to date. Words like PHAT, Hallelujah (we know you said it in her tone) and Good looks, good looks and good looks remain to be fan-favorite to date.

Her golden advice, ‘Never buy things on sale,’ is followed by many fashionistas out there!

SELF CONFIDENCE

Indeed, Poo taught us to not get fazed by the attention of the college’s most popular guy who thinks highly of himself. From turning a movie date with college’s heartthrob Robby to rating guys in minus points for prom night, she knew her worth very well.

Not to forget, self-love in this generation peaked with her popular dialogue, ‘Tumhe koi haq nahi banta ke tum itni khoobsurat lago.’ Damn, girl!

VOCAL AND OUTSPOKEN

Instead of throwing hints like a quintessential heroine, our Poo outrightly confessed that she ‘loves laddoos’ and sang in front of hundreds of guests when dared to express her true feelings. Show’em how to make the first move, girl.

OWING IT UP

The fact that she didn’t fumble at the faux pass of sporting two different heels at college’s most important night shows how much she is winning in life. In fact, she turned the tables around and made it a fashion statement. Take a bow, queen!

THE IT-FASHION GIRL

Back in those days, Poo introduced us to self-pampering salon sessions and got us all curious about those Vogue subscriptions. She was even the first fashion icon for the 90s kids to teach, ‘black makes you look lean.’

UNFAZED

Poo strutted in her own lane unapologetically and so she never found herself on the receiving end of the evil blame game, including the religious fanatics. So if people were staring at her instead of worshipping the deity in the temple, it was truly not her problem!

A KIND SOUL

Behind a tough exterior and a top-notch fashionista was a simple girl with a kind soul. Even though she showed college’s most popular guy the door, was a little too much about herself but she helped Rohan (essayed by Hrithik) meet his long-lost brother.

It’s been 20 years and Poo and her style and self-care lessons still live in our heads rent-free. More power to you, girl!
