Last night, stars from showbiz descended straight on the red carpet to celebrate filmmaker and fashionista Karan Johar’s 50th birthday. Matching up to the grandeur of the gala, the crème de la crème of Bollywood showed up to the soiree putting their finest fashion foot forward whilst serving some hawt looks to drool upon.
While we were floored by the sartorial extravaganza our celebs had to offer at the birthday bash, however, there were some who failed to make a lasting impression. The 'bling and glamour' was surely the informal theme of the party, however, there were some celebs who went overboard with it. Check it out:
TARA SUTARIA

While Tara definitely looked stunning, we are not quite sure how apt was the diva’s Manish Malhotra lehenga-inspired outfit for the do. Given her sound sartorial past, we definitely expected a fashion bomb from this stunner.
AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN
Aishwarya’s overwhelmingly gold gown teamed with an embellished blazer (???) was a bit too loud for our liking. Also, the bold makeup ft red lips and blushed cheeks didn’t quite go with her overtly bright look.
TAMANNAAH BHATIA
While hot pink is definitely the colour of the season, this David Koma outfit is somehow not working on this beaut. Be it her oversized sequin shirt or a micro-mini matching skirt, there seems to be something off with this overall look.
SARA ALI KHAN
We have seen Sara ace high-low dresses on multiple occasions but this Nedret Taciroglu outfit is not it. Also, we would like to see this diva raise the style stakes with more experimental looks rather than sticking to her comfort zone.
KAJOL
Blazer dress with fringe detailing jazzed further with gold accessories, Kajol’s Deme Love look is about too many elements to be about anything in particular. Sigh.
DIANA PENTY
Another overwhelming gold look gone wrong! Diana’s gold scaled sequin gown from Nirmooha failed to hit the right fashion notes this time around.
SABA AZAD
Given the zest of the gala, Saba’s cut-out Zara number came across as a tad bit plain. Also, the gold accessories don’t really seem to vibe with her outfit. What do you guys think?
SUNNY KAUSHAL
Just like Tara, Sunny opted for an ethnic Shantanu & Nikhil look for Karan Johar's 50th birthday bash. Though we loved how he carried the look but nevertheless we feel it was not fit for the event.
