Maha Ashtami, also known as Ashtami or Durgashtami, is one of the most important days during the auspicious festival of Navratri and Durga Puja. These days are devoted to Maa Durga and her nine avatars (Navdurgas). Worshippers honour the victory of good over evil by worshipping the Goddess in all nine of her manifestations. People worship Maa Mahagauri on Ashtami and perform a number of rituals, such as Kanjak or Kanya Puja, Sandhi Puja, Mahasnan, and others.
On Maha Ashtami or Day 8 of Navratri, peacock green is the colour of the day. On this day, devotees can dress in this colour as they worship the goddess Mahagauri. The colour stands for originality, freshness, compassion, and uniqueness.
