The 95h Academy Awards kicked off in style in the early hours of Monday morning at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The much-awaited sartorial gala had something for everyone. Although, this year, the Oscars were a bit more special for us Indians for not one but three reasons. RRR’s Natu Natu bagging the Best Original Song to Guneet Monga’s The Elephant Whisperers winning big and actress Deepika Padukone becoming the third Indian presenter at the international awards- everything was a cause for celebration! However, as fashionistas, what we celebrated the most was the red-carpet fashion at the soiree. The best of Hollywood, as well as the Bollywood brigade, put out their best foot forward in vintage outfits, floor-sweeping gowns and so much more.
Check out some of the notable looks from the gala
RIHANNA IN CUSTOM ALAIA
Mother served and how! Rihanna’s custom Alaia gown came with mesh detailing that gave us a peek at her baby bump. The leather straps on the hips and a leather train added an edge to her outfit. So classy!
LADY GAGA
Making us go ‘Gaga’ quite literally, the stunner descended on the red carpet of the gala in a hot mesh Versace look. Her FW23 gown featured a mesh tulle bustier top paired with an A-line skirt detailing, held together with a nastro Gianni’ belt with Medusa ’95 detailing. Her outfit was accessorized with a medusa necklace to complete the look.
DEEPIKA PADUKONE
Deepika made her red carpet debut at the 95th Academy Awards unleashing the good old Hollywood charm in a custom Louis Vuitton look. Her off-shouldered gown was cinched at the waist and hips, accentuating her envy-worthy curves. Those elbow-length gloves added a classic touch to her look. Making a statement with the choice of jewels, she accessorized her sweetheart neckline with a delicate Cartier necklace, studded with diamonds and precious stones.
TEAM RRR- RAM CHARAN & JR NTR
Natu Natu boys definitely created a ‘histo-rrr-y’ but before that they sti-rrr-ed things on the red carpet with their ethnic wear. Keeping their characters in mind, Ram Charn opted for a military-esque look in Shantanu & Nikhil while Jr NTR roared on the red carpet in a Gaurav Gupta creation
GUNEET MONGA & KARTIKI GONSALVES
Guneet and Kartiki shone brightly at the soiree. Representing her film, The Elephant Whisperers, truly, Guneet chose an Ekaya Banaras drape with elephant motifs and an elephant brooch. Kartiki looked resplendent in an intricately detailed Rahul Mishra gown.
ANA DE ARMAS
Ana looked absolutely flawless in a custom Louis Vuitton silk organza gown by that bore mermaid-like fringe detailing on its train. Her intricately detailed and embellished outfit was accentuated with delicate diamond accessories and subtle glam.
ANDREW GARFIELD
Andrew looked sharp in a sleek Fendi suit teamed with a bow tie and shiny formal shoes.
MICHELLE YEOH
Michelle walked straight out of the fairy tale and onto the red carpet dressed in a Dior Couture gown with waves of feathers in ivory silk organza. Delicate diamond accessories completed her look.
EMILY BLUNT
Emily channeled her inner white swan in an off-the-shoulder A-line gown from Maison Valentino elevated with diamond jewels.
