Lakme Fashion Week 2024, day 5: The buzz and the peace

Asymmetrical Precision was what Diksha Khanna called her collection at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI at Jio World Convention Centre. Mindful of the bustling urban life, Diksha evoked a sense of Zen-like peace with her ensembles. There was rugged denim that represented the city life, while the fine handloom Chanderi whispered gently of distant peaceful mountains.

She turned her gaze on old monasteries and interpreted them as dome-shaped hand-appliquéd borders and played with drawstrings as detailing. The colours included ivory, indigo, grey and brown. Shehnaaz Gill was the showstopper in a baggy, drop-crotch, zippered, multi-denim jumpsuit under an oversized matching jacket with drawstrings detailing on the sleeves. Next in line was the Nirmooha label by Prreeti Jaiin Nainutia with the Ekatra collection. It examined the underlying principles of individuality and incorporated various components that work together harmoniously. The inspiration was an interesting version of botanic forms, interconnected tree roots and abstract patterns.

Opening the show was Abhimanyu Dassani in a royal purple, shimmering jacket, over a lacey kurta-shirt and comfy trousers. And ending the show was Aditi Rao Hydari in a flared, cocktail pants, tiny blouse and a floor-sweeping cape – all heavily embellished with abstract motifs.
