On the occasion of International Women's Day, the designer grammed beautiful stills of Varshita Thatavarthi, a plus-size model by profession. Dressed in a magenta-red lehenga, Varshita stunned in the ethereal lehenga. The post was captioned as, 'This International Women's Day, celebrate confidence.'

While his intentions and sentiments were pure, the post received a lot of flak in the name of hypocrisy and emoting a negative approach. More than appreciation, the designer received criticism on putting forward such a 'shallow' or 'hypocritic' message, as his followers called it.
Many argued that it's wrong to emote and assume that dark-skinned and curvy women lack confidence, which was the message that many primarily received. Many also argued on the point of 'self-confidence', as to why it should be celebrated only on occasion and not every day.
