Irrfan, diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018, was still recovering from the disease after extensive treatment in London. The acclaimed Bollywood and Hollywood actor breathed his last at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Wednesday early morning. He was 54-years-old.
Now as his fans and colleagues mourn his death, let's take a look at how he kept inspiring us despite his ongoing battle for life.
It was in 2018 that he revealed he was diagnosed with 'rare disease'. The announcement came as a shock to everyone. "Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease," he had shared that time.
Later, while talking about his diagnosis, he asked his fans not to speculate, saying, "I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will." Claiming that his family and friends were with him and were helping him out, he added, "In trying times, please don't speculate as I'll myself share the story with you."
Before he started his treatment and flew to London for the same, he wrote, "The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about," adding that the love and strength of the people around him and within himself brought him hope in those hard times.
After undergoing treatment in the UK for almost a year, he returned to India and wrote, "Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget how much it means to be loved."
Ahead of his last film Angrezi Medium, he revealed that he won't be promoting the film and urged his fans to watch the films, a product made with so much love and emotion. in fact, before the trailer release, he said in a video message, "There is a saying, when life gives you lemons, you make a lemonade. However, it is always easier said than done." Irrfan added, "And yes, wait for me."
