From 'Agneepath' to 'Housefull 2', Rishi Kapoor's top 10 hits in the new millennium that are a must watch

As the new millennium kick-started, Rishi Kapoor also decided to hang his boots. Well, not as an actor but as a leading man. His last film as a main lead, Karobaar: The Business of Love (albeit much delayed) released in 2000 and this was the same year when he graduated to playing character roles as well, what with Raju Chacha hitting the screens. However, the man stayed active right through with his last release The Body arriving late last year. Let's take a look at his Top-10 hits on this side of the millennium.apoor#

Housefull 2 - 116 crores

Ironic as it may sound but in his biggest grosser of the recent times, Housefull 2, Rishi Kapoor was named as Chintu Kapoor - his nickname. Sajid Khan has been a huge fanboy of Rishi Kapoor and he ensured that he along with Randhir Kapoor (named Daboo Kapoor) were called by their real life nicknames in the film.

Agneepath - 115 crores

Only Rishi Kapoor could have managed to pull this off. After all, he played a character which was basically an amalgamation of four different characters (all villains) from the original Agneepath starring Amitabh Bachchan. As Rauf Lala, he was truly a terror in the Hrithik Roshan starrer.

Kapoor & Sons - 73.30 crores

Kapoor & Sons stays on to be one of the most remarkable roles of Rishi Kapoor from past as well as present. As a central protagonist, he was awesome in the film. Ironically, he had huge creative differences with director Shakun Batra on the film, though all of it got diluted once both were appreciated for their craft.

Student of the Year - 70 crores

Though the film was primarily about the debut of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, filmmaker Karan Johar made sure that as a gay dean of the college, Rishi Kapoor brought in all the entertainment as well. His tender affection for Ronit Roy was really sweet.

Love Aaj Kal - 67 crores

As a 'sutradhar' of sorts, Rishi Kapoor was the connecting line between 'kal' and 'aaj' of the love story that was led by Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. He had quite a few profound lines to say in the Imtiaz Ali directed film which went on to be a good commercial success.

102 Not Out - 52 crores

His last good success, 102 Not Out had Rishi Kapoor playing a senior citizen who was way too consumed with the uncertainties of life and had actually stopped living it. Quite ironic as in real life, the actor was as full of life as one can be and always carried great zeal to live and enjoy.

Fanaa - 51.87 crores

A dramatic entertainer that had director Kunal Kohli work with Rishi Kapoor again after Hum Tum, it had the actor blend himself well into the father role. The film was primarily about Aamir Khan and Kajol but Rishi Kapoor did make his presence felt, especially in the scene where his dead body is found.

Shuddh Desi Romance - 48 crores

A film about live-in relationships in the interiors of the country, Shuddh Desi Romance had Rishi Kapoor lend quite a few life lessons. No wonders, Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra were all ears as well in a film which is one of their few box office successes.

Chashme Baddoor - 41.68 crores

In the 90s, Rishi Kapoor had worked with director David Dhawan in quite a few films. Now in the new millennium when he was making a remake of Chashme Baddoor, Rishi Kapoor gladly stepped in to play the part of a happy-go-lucky man. Taapsee Pannu debuted with Rishi Kapoor in Bollywood with this film and later went on to do Mulk with him as well.

Namastey London - 37.29 crores

As Katrina Kaif's father in Namastey London, Rishi Kapoor had an important role to play in the Vipul Shah directed film. The film did in fact started with his story and then took further shape with Akshay Kumar stepping into the proceedings. Over the years, the film has managed cult status for itself.
