Legendary singer, Bharat Ratna and the Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at the age of 92 years leaving her fans, family and friends in grief. With her demise the music has truly died. Lata didi as she was fondly called was India’s most revered, loved and prolific singer. In a career spanning seven decades recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six Indian languages and foreign languages. However, she sung mainly in Hindi and Marathi. Besides Hindi films she also sang several devotional songs and has been an idol for several playback singers.
