Shashank Khaitan, known for delivering several successful films, has had a super long and victorious association with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Shashank made his directorial debut with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania in 2014 and went on to direct its spiritual sequel Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). His work on the latter earned him a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Director. He also directed the romantic drama Dhadak (2018) and a segment of the anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans (2020). In 2019, he became a producer for Dharma Productions, his first production being Good Newwz.
Shashank's filmography has one thing in common - his loyal partnership with KJo's production house. Their latest release being Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar's Govinda Naam Mera which released on Dinsey Plus Hotstar at midnight. While the film's initial response is great, it is interesting to see how Dharma Productions has always played lucky charm for Shashank. Be it his first-ever directorial Humpty Sharmaa Ki Dulhania with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt or their sequel Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Shashank has delivered several hits with Dharma.
After directing Janhvi Kapoor-Ishaan Khatter's Dhadak and turning producer with Good Newwz, Shashank went on to produce Vicky Kaushal's Bhoot Part 1: The Haunted Ship. The filmmaker then entered the webspace as he took his partnership ahead with Dharma Productions to collaborate with Netflix for their anthology Ajeeb Daastaans in which the filmmaker directed Jaideep Ahlawat, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Armaan Ralhaan's short titled Majnu.
Shashank, who is currently enjoying the initial positive response of Govinda Naam Mera, is all set to co-produce Sidharth Malhotra's action film Yodha along with Dharma Productions. Well, looks like Shashank and Karan's partnership, which goes way back, is proven to be a successful one at all times.
