Vijay Sethupathi, one of the most well-liked and prosperous actors in Tamil cinema, has had an incredible ascent to prominence. After beginning his career in minor, supporting roles, he nearly went undetected for the first few years. Vijay Sethupathi Birth Date and Early Life:

Vijay Sethupathi was born on 16 January 1978 and was raised in Rajapalayam until he moved to Chennai in class six. He lived in Ennore located in North Chennai. He attended the MGR Higher Secondary School in Kodambakkam and Little Angels Mat. Hr. Sec. School. At age 16, he auditioned for a role in Nammavar (1994), but was rejected due to his short height.

Sethupathi did a series of odd jobs for pocket money: salesman at a retail store, cashier at a fast food joint and a phone booth operator.He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Dhanraj Baid Jain College in Thoraipakam.

The actor began working as an accountant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after graduating from college. He worked in Dubai till 2003, at which point he moved back to India and joined his buddies in the interior design industry. Vijay Sethupathi didn't think about acting as a career choice until Balu Mahendra told him that he had a very attractive face and encouraged him to seek a career in acting.

Sethupathi Family:

Three siblings make up Sethupathi's family: an elder brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister. In 2003, he came back from Dubai to marry Jessie, the woman he had dated and met online. Their daughter Shreeja and son Surya are their two children. In honor of his friend who passed away when he was still in school, he gave his baby the name Surya. In Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), Surya played a younger Sethupathi, marking his acting debut. In 2019, Surya made a reappearance in Sindhubaadh alongside his father.

Sethupathi Movie Career:

Vijay Sethupathi started his acting career by appearing in smaller roles, mostly as the friend of the lead character. His big break came in 2009 when he worked on the sports drama film Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, directed by Suseenthiram. Vijay Sethupathi was given a main role in his first film, Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, thanks to Suseenthiran's recommendation. Vijay's cinematic performances have impressed him. The film won three National Film Awards, including Best Tamil Feature Film, after its December 2010 release.

The year 2012 marked a turning point in Vijay Sethupathi`s career; he had three releases in the year and all of them were critically and commercially successful. For playing a Trans woman in Super Deluxe (2019), he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has also starred in the Hindi series Farzi and film Jawan (both 2023).

In 2017, Vijay Sethupathi had a rather quiet year by his own standards. In contrast to his other releases of the year, Vikram Vedha garnered positive reviews from reviewers and viewers alike. He was recognized with the Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Tamil for his portrayal of the multifaceted Vedha.

Sethupathi’s Controversy:

Vijay Sethupathi was supposed to play Muttiah Muralitharan, the cricket player from Sri Lanka, in the 2020 biopic 800. Due to Vijay Sethupathi's political remarks and backing of the Sri Lankan government, there was controversy around his casting in a biopic on Muttiah Muralitharan. Due to his cricket playing during the Eelam War, Muralitharan, a Tamil by birth, sparked discussions among his community. Film supporters said that Muralitharan should be honored for his accomplishments in cricket.
