Know Your Stars: Vidya Balan birth place, acting debut

Indian actress Vidya Balan has transformed the film industry by shattering the stereotype of picturesque heroines and establishing a unique niche for herself. The performer, who feels that her work should speak for itself, has been in a number of successful films, including Guru (2007), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), Parineeta (2005), the highly regarded Paa (2009), The Dirty Picture (2011), and Kahaani (2012).

Vidya Birth Place and Education:

Born in the Keralan district of Palakkad on January 1st, 1978, to Saraswathy Balan, a homemaker, and P. R. Balan, chief mentor at MFA Consulting Private Limited. She was raised with her older sister, Priya Balan, an advertising professional.

Vidya finished her education at Mumbai's St. Anthony Girls High School in Chembur. She was cast as Radhika in the Ekta Kapoor-produced sitcom Hum Paanch during her school years. She finished her education by earning a bachelor's degree in sociology from Mumbai's St. Xavier's College.

Vidya Debut:

After facing difficulties in the Malayalam and Tamil film industries, Vidya made her acting debut in the independent Bengali film Bhalo Theko in 2003, with the goal of pursuing a career in Bollywood.

Her Hindi film debut was with Pradeep Sarkar`s Parineeta [2005] co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Raima Sen. In 2006, Vidya shared the screen with Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani`s comedy film Lage Raho Munna Bhai. She starred in Vidhu Vinod Chopra`s Eklavya: The Royal Guard, and Sajid Khan`s Heyy Babyy. Her last film for the year 2007 was Priyadarshan`s Bhool Bhulaiyaa, co-starring Akshay Kumar.

Her next release was Milan Luthria`s The Dirty Picture, a biopic where she played the role of the south Indian actress, Silk Smitha. The film grossed a total of 114 crore INR and was declared a blockbuster hit. She is also set to appear in the Bollywood space film Mission Mangal (2019) alongside Akshay Kumar. Her other releases include Shakuntala Devi (2020).

Vidya will next reprise her role as Manjulika in the comedy horror sequel Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Vidya Personal Life:

The mass media has often speculated about a romantic relationship between Vidya and her co-actors, but she has strongly denied these reports. Rumor had it that she was romantically involved with Shahid Kapoor, her co-star in Kismat Konnection, during her early acting career. She married Siddharth Roy Kapur, the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures and brother of actor Aditya Roy Kapur, on December 14th, 2012.
