Actor, TV host, and presenter Sunny Leone is Canadian-American and has starred in Bollywood films. She broke through in the Indian film business in 2012 as a co-star in Pooja Bhatt's Jism 2. Ever since her initial big-screen debut, her career has taken off, with her starring roles in numerous blockbuster films.
Sunny Birth Place:
The actress was born into a Punjabi household in Ontario, Canada on May 13, 1981. Her mother was from Himachal Pradesh, and her father was born in Tibet and raised in Delhi. Before entering the adult industry, Sunny Leone—a stage name she adopted—was born Karenjit Kaur Vohra. Sunny was raised in a traditional Sikh home, but she went to Catholic school since her parents thought it would be unsafe for her to attend a public institution.
Personal Life:
Sunny spent around a year working at a German bakery before moving on to work at a tax and retirement agency. This was before she entered the adult entertainment industry. Her classmate introduced her to local agency John Stevens, who in turn introduced her to Penthouse Magazine photographer Jay Allen, when she was studying pediatrics in Orange County. Her first foray into the adult entertainment industry came when Jay Allen persuaded her to model for the Penthouse Magazine.
Sunny Leone is married to her former adult movies co-star and her current manager, Daniel Weber. The two met through common friends and soon started dating each other. In July 2017, Leone and her husband Daniel Weber adopted their first child from Latur, a village in Maharashtra. The baby girl, whom they named Nisha Kaur Weber. On March 4, 2018, Leone and her husband announced the birth of their twin boys, born through surrogacy. They named the boys Asher Singh Weber and Noah Singh Weber.
Sunny Mainstream Appearance:
Sunny Leone`s first mainstream appearance on TV was in 2005 when she worked as a reporter for MTV India at the MTV awards. She then appeared in the film, The Girl Next Door. Sunny appeared as a contestant on the second season of My Bare Lady 2: Open for Business on Fox channel. Leone was also part of a Showtime documentary of the same name detailing the production of the movie and the personal lives of its stars.
Sunny Bollywood Debut:
Bollywood film-maker Mahesh Bhatt who entered the Big House house for a brief period, offered her the lead role in Jism 2, the sequel to the 2003 film, Jism. Sunny accepted the offer and thus began her career in Bollywood.
She signed for her second film, Ragini MMS 2, a horror movie produced by Ekta Kapoor. Sunny played the role of a troubled woman who is looking to avenge her children`s death. She also featured in an item number, `Laila` in Ekta Kapoor`s film, Shootout at Wadala.
In the year 2014, Sunny made her debut in the Tamil film industry; she made a guest appearance in Saravana Rajan`s, Vadacurry. Sunny appeared in a lead role in Bobby Khan`s musical thriller, Ek Paheli Leela. May 2015, Sunny was seen in Devang Dholakia`s Kuch Kuch Locha Hai where she played the role of a film star opposite Ram Kapoor, Navdeep Chabbra, and Evelyn Sharma.
Her other projects in 2016 include One Night Stand, Beiimaan Love, Tina and Lolo and Raees, where she appeared in a special song opposite the King of Romance, Shah Rukh Khan. Rangeela (2023) will mark her debut in the Malayalam film industry while Veeramadevi (2023) will be her Tamil debut movie.
