On this special occasion, here are 7 surprising facts about The Voice coach that you probably didn’t know.
1. She Was Kicked Out Of School
Miley’s rebellious streak didn’t start from her VMA performance but actually since childhood! When she was younger, she was kicked out of her private school. Although it isn’t clear what she did to warrant expulsion from the school, reports say that she stole a motorized scooter from one of her teachers.
2. She Didn’t Originally Audition To Be Hannah Montana
Miley first rose to fame with the role of 'Hannah Montana', but she didn’t originally audition for the role of Hannah! Miley originally auditioned for the best-friend supporting role of Lilly Truscott, but the producers could see that she was much better suited to being a star than a sidekick. Miley told Rolling Stone that her dad didn’t want her to audition for the show at all. He wanted to protect his daughter from the harsh rejection that will inevitably come with this kind of work. “He didn’t want me to be hurt by the industry,” she said.
3. She Has A Heart Condition
Malibu singer actually has a heart condition known as tachycardia, i.e. her heart rate exceeds the normal resting rate. While some sufferers of tachycardia can be unstable and prone to cardiac arrest, Miley’s is thankfully a little less serious. “The type of tachycardia I have isn’t dangerous. It won’t hurt me, but it does bother me,” she wrote in her autobiography. In the past, Miley has been hospitalized for her condition and has also had a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics.
4. The “Hannah Montana” movie makes her cringe
At an interview with a radio station, Miley confessed, “My mom watches ‘The Last Song’ on airplanes all the time and I’m like ‘Mom, you can’t do this in public places where you sit on an airplane and watch. And then she says, ‘I got the ‘Hannah Montana’ movie, and I was crying at the end.’”
“I can’t watch it I kinda cringe a little bit. It’s so weird because I think I just turned 16 so it’s just so weird to see yourself going through those awkward stages.”
5. She can’t pose for cameras!
Miley went through a phase where she stuck her tongue out in almost every single snap she took. On the Ellen DeGeneres Show confessed, “I really don’t like taking pictures. I feel very uncomfortable taking pictures and so it’s like a nervous habit because it just seems so awkward to take a picture, I don’t know how to do it… it just feels more comfortable."
6. She doesn’t listen to her own music
She revealed in an interview with the Zach Sang Show that she doesn’t like to look back. “Every time I make a record, I forget what the last one was, just because I don’t listen…that would be weird if I was at home rocking out to the ‘Dead Pets’ or ‘Bangerz’ all the time. Once I’m done touring, I don’t listen to my music very much, and so I think I get so far away from the last project and I honestly can’t remember the ‘Hoedown Throwdown.’ I think I grow so much I forget what even the last sound was so I don’t hold myself back…”
7. She cannot stand ‘Wrecking Ball’
When Miley released Wrecking Ball in the summer of 2013 it quickly became the biggest radio hit. But she admitted to 103.5 KTU that she can’t stand to perform the song anymore. “Wrecking Ball’…Sorry guys... I’ll do it but I don’t love it. When you are so stoked on something you are so happy then you have to go sing a song that is about a big bummer. And then I can never live down that I licked a sledgehammer.”
Happy Birthday, Miley!
