Two big ifs – if Ed Sheeran does get invited to perform live when Prince Harry weds Meghan Markle, will he sing his number one hit Thinking Out Loud? It is, after all, one of the most popular first dance wedding songs of recent years! And Ed Sheeran is, unarguably, one of Britain’s most popular singer-songwriters in recent years, so there!
Speculation that Sheeran might be a wedding singer at the royal wedding next year gathers steam, as the platinum-selling artiste received an MBE for services to music and charity. Clarence House tweeted, “Today Ed Sheeran was made an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by The Prince of Wales. Congratulations!”

Sheeran picked up his award from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace, and now he has casually fuelled speculation about his role in providing entertainment at the upcoming nuptials. When queried about the same, he replied that he had not been asked – added, “Why not?” when asked if he would like to perform.
The 26-year-old Sheeran is the most-streamed artist on Spotify for 2017. With three multiplatinum-selling albums, number ones across the world and numerous awards and nominations, he is also a keen supporter of charities, including East Anglia's Children's Hospices.

And to bring you up to date with the royal wedding, it will take place in May 2018, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Wedding plans are supposedly already moving along at lightning speed. Markle is making plans to be baptized and confirmed in the Church of England, and she has already reportedly commissioned her stylist friend Jessica Mulroney to help her find a gown that is classic and simple with a modern twist. While Prince William and Duchess Kate’s kids, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, along with Mulroney’s daughter, will have roles at the wedding, Prince William has been asked by his brother to serve as best man. There will be a stag party for the boys but nothing wild on the cards here! Buzz goes that following Christmas with the Queen, Harry and Meghan will escape for a short pre-nuptial break to a secret destination.
