Even Brad Pitt gets outshone every now and then… The Hollywood star had offered to pay $120,000 to watch an episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ with Emilia Clarke but was outbid during the silent auction at Sean Penn’s annual gala for Haiti, held at Milk Studios in California!
At the charity gala, the auctioneer announced the opportunity to watch an episode with Clarke, along with co-star Kit Harington, who was in attendance at the event. The auction to watch the episode started at $20,000.
While Pitt bid $80,000 to watch an episode of the epic fantasy drama with Clarke, he outbid himself to $90,000. He then raised his own bid to $120,000, when Harington also offered to also sit in on the episode viewing. However, his efforts came to naught when he was outbid by a gala-goer who ended the auction at $160,000!
The charity event to benefit the J/P HRO & Disaster Relief Organizations, hosted by Penn, CAA’s Bryan Lourd and Sean and Alexandra Parker, also honoured Leonardo DiCaprio for his work combating climate change.
Sean Penn and Leonardo DiCaprio used also the eighth annual benefit for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization to publicly praise each other's philanthropic work. DiCaprio had been the guest of honoir at the $5,000-a-plate dinner Saturday night at Milk Studios. The event raised nearly $4 million for Penn's Haitian Relief Organization and its non-profit partners.
DiCaprio was also recognized for 20 years of supporting environmental causes through his namesake foundation. Penn maintained that it DiCaprio's work that motivated him to start his own charitable organization after the devastating earthquake in 2010 that left thousands of Haitians homeless and without basic resources. “As much as anyone, the inspiration for me was from Leo DiCaprio,” Penn said. “Here was this young guy who had not only continued to create so productively but had also created what takes a kind of Herculean effort.”
