Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu created history at the 70th edition of the Miss Universe pageant held on December 12 in Eilat, Israel. The 21 years old actress-model from Punjab won the title of Miss Universe and brought the crown back home after 21 years of wait. Harnaaz defeated Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira and South Africa’s Lalela Mswane at the prestigious annual event.

Now, as all eyes are on Harnaaz after her win, let's know more about her. Harnaaz, a 21 years old model and actress from Chandigarh, is not a new face in the fashion and films circuit. After winning the title of Times Fresh Face Miss Chandigarh 2017, she became Miss Max Emerging Star India 2018 and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019. She is also the winner of LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2021.

The 70th Miss Universe is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in public administration. Reportedly, in her bio for the pageant, Harnaaz mentioned how her mother broke generations of patriarchy to become a successful gynaecologist. The actress-model stated that she supports women's causes and advocates for women's empowerment.

Harnaaz has acted in two Punjabi films Yaara Diyan Poo Baran and Bai Ji Kuttange. Both are scheduled to release in 2022. Before Harnaaz, Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen won the title of Miss Universe.
