The German edition of Playboy Magazine features a transgender model on its cover, for the very first time. The transgender model, Giuliana Farfalla, is seen topless on the cover of this flamboyant glossy magazine. The 21-year-old shot to fame after appearing on the hit reality show Germany’s Next Top Model. With the fashion industry becoming an important platform to send out strong messages (CC: Golden Globes red carpet, 2018), this progressive move by Playboy doesn’t surprise us at all.

The beautiful diva who’s all set to create history as the first transgender model on the Playboy cover, has already gained huge popularity on Insta. Farafalla, who took to Instagram to share this cover said she was ‘super proud’ of the magazine. Editor-in-chief Florian Boitin said Farfalla was a "beautiful example of how important the fight for the right to self-determination is". The model born in south-western German city of Breisgau, underwent gender reassignment surgery at the tender age of 16

French transgender model, Ines Rau, graced the cover of Playboy, November-December issue as a tribute to Hugh Hefner, the magazine's late founder. Giuliana seems to be following the French models' footsteps and is the second transgender cover model in Playboy history.
