Lizzo gets candid about hope, justice and election on Vogue’s October issue, sparks fly on internet

There’s not a shred of doubt that the popular Vogue magazine and controversies go hand in hand. After receiving flak on several occasions for lack of inclusivity, the magazine decided to up its game and featured singer Lizzo as the first black and plus-sized covergirl on its October issue.

Styled by Carlos Nazario, Lizzo featured on the issue cover in a crimson-hued Valentino dress that bore ruffles and a plunging neckline. Dainty diamond accessories added a dash of glamour to her otherwise plain number. In the makeup department, her top knot bun and a striking red pout made up for her too-subtle outfit.

Just like others, this issue cover managed to spark debates as well. The internet was left in splits. Some loved the fact that they featured a Size 2 beaut on the issue cover and that Vogue has really come a long way.

While others complained that the plain background and vanilla dressing did not do justice to her beauty.

Some netizens, on the contrary, found Lizzo irrelevant on the issue cover itself.

What’s your take on all of this?
