Oscar nominee Elliot Page, who came out as transgender last year in December has now graced the cover of Time Magazine’s latest issue as the FIRST transgender actor. The actor, formerly known as Ellen Page, took it to his social media account and shared the issue cover that featured him in a blue sweatshirt, denim and sport sneaks.
In his very first magazine interview since coming out, Elliot spoke about his new-found identity, career and the fight for trans equality.
Captioning the post, Elliot wrote, “With deep respect for those who came before me, gratitude for those who have supported me and great concern for the generation of trans youth we must all protect, please join me and decry anti-trans legislation, hate and discrimination in all its forms.”
Elliot marks the second transgender actor after Laverne Cox, who became the first trans woman to appear on the cover of Time in 2014.
