Just within three days of the launch of her fashion line in collaboration with designer Monisha Jaising, Shweta Bachchan’s brand has mired itself into a controversy. MxS was launched in Mumbai on September 1 in the presence of Shweta’s family including her parents Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan; and brother Abhishek and his wife Aishwarya Rai, and several other celebrities.
Abhishek was spotted wearing a hoodie from Shweta’s collection, bearing the tagline, ‘Girl Power’. Even Amitabh and Jaya were also seen sporting the same hoodies.
Soon after their pictures were made available online, several users on social media opined that the font is considerably similar to that of the cartoon show Powerpuff Girls.
“Is the girl power shirt also inspired from Powerpuff girls,” read a comment on a post on Instagram while several others seemingly agreed to the aforementioned doubt.

Soon after, popular Instagram account, Diet Sabya, who is known for calling out plagiarists in the fashion world, put up a picture of Shweta wearing a tee from her brand with the inscription, ‘Airplane Mode’ along with another model sporting an almost similar outfit with the same tagline. The account, in its caption, thus accused Shweta of imitating the design from “a little known loungewear brand”.
Folks, in fact, appeared to agree with Diet Sabya as well. “when I saw the girl power tee with the font type same as powerpuff girls, i thought the brand was just lazy, but this is at another level,” read one comment while another user said, “Blame it on real talent being ignored and only connections and status being given importance.”

Well, Shweta hasn’t responded to this allegation as yet and you will really have to watch this space to see how this matter unfolds further.
The MxS launch event was also attended by Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan and their daughter Suhana; Ananya Panday; Maheep and her daughter Shanaya Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Katrina Kaif among others.
