Ideas that’ll get the town buzzing

Going beyond showcases, this season spearheads conversations addressing important topics in fashion, sustainability and lifestyle. From a PETA collaboration on Sustainable Fashion Day to Ananya Pandey talking about So+ her digital social responsibility initiative and the return of India’s largest award for Sustainability – the Circular Design Challenge.

A brand-new space called The Atelier

This season will feature a new space called ‘The Atelier’ which will have different experiences for every show providing the designer with the flexibility to bring their creations to life. Space will be larger, more experiential and feature an online invitation platform.

Celebrating 20 years of LFW

The opening show pays tribute to the Gen Next designers who have been the pulse of Lakmé Fashion Week. There will also be a unique walk-through commemorating LFW’s 20th anniversary. With iconic images and videos of designers and their collections as well as beauty looks across seasons, this will be an interesting walk down memory lane to look at how fashion and beauty have evolved in India over the past 20 years.

Celebrating Mumbai’s cultural hotspots

Highlighting the city it has called home since 2006, a special show series starting this season at iconic Mumbai hotspots will begin with a sunset show at Bandra Sea link Promenade. The Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale by Amit Aggarwal also promises to be the grandest show of the year at another famous location.

Reducing carbon footprints.

Besides initiatives at Sustainable Fashion Day, this season LFW will be looking at the environment in a more conscious manner on the ground. LFW will be initiating a pilot project to go paperless by introducing e-invites. LFW in association with Sankalp Taru Foundation will initiate a campaign ‘TREES OF LFW’ to reduce carbon footprint through the planting of trees in various farmlands across Maharashtra. And finally, the new and improved Showroom will have display areas made of Sustainable material.

Are you excited as well?!
