The outbreak Corona Virus has sure kept the world worried ‘sick’. Amidst the growing fear of this COVID-19 virus amongst the citizens of the world, the government is taking precautions to minimalize the impact of the same. People are now advised to follow hygiene and safety measures and avoid going out in public places.
Owing to public safety, many annual gatherings have been gone for a toss recently. Few major shows from the Paris Fashion Week were called off, the new Bond release No Time To Die was pushed further and our own Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week and IIFA Awards stand postponed. Although, the big question remains, will the prestigious 73rd Festival de Cannes join this bandwagon too?

For years, the French Riviera and the International Cannes Film Festival have witnessed some major fashion moments on its red carpet. Bollywood celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut have been a known face for this soiree.
This year, the grand event was scheduled from May 12- May 21, 2020. While the impacts of the outbreaks are evident, one cannot rule out this possibility. However, there has been no such official announcement from the authorities on the same. Reportedly, MipTV, the Cannes based international television conference, has been cancelled after receiving an official request from the French Government. On the contrary to this fiasco, a report in Indiwire suggests that the organisers will soon announce the official selection of films for this year. ‘The festival, however, continues to downplay the drama. On Friday, it sent out a release confirming plans to announce its Official Selection on April 16, per usual.’
With the entire world being threatened by this lethal virus, we will only have to wait and watch how the cards will unfold for Cannes!
