The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, also known as the novel Coronavirus has brought both film and fashion industry to a standstill. In the wake of such crisis, many social gatherings, award functions, and red carpet events have been postponed to a later date owing to public safety.
Just a few days after making an official announcement about postponing the gala, the management of the Cannes Film Festival took a decision to open the doors of the venue to all the homeless people amidst the pandemic lockdown. In tough times like these where coming together to help each other out is not only morally right but extremely necessary, the officials are setting a perfect example in front of the world.
Due to the health crisis and the development of the French and international situation, the Festival de Cannes will no longer be able to take place on the dates planned, from May 12 to 23. More info #Cannes2020 https://t.co/peLmfw0gQW pic.twitter.com/SVWPasvU23

As per an article in a leading daily, the place where once all the famous celebrities appeared at their glorious best, has been turned into a makeshift shelter to protect the homeless from the wrath of this deadly virus. The city has set up beds and canteen on the ground floor of the Palais, that can accommodate up to 80 people along with proper food and medical attention.
With the wrath of the pandemic raging across the world, this has been quite a smart and sensitive move by the management of Festival De Cannes. What are your thoughts?
