With the wrath of the COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus raging like a wildfire, the fashion industry, amongst many others, has come to a standstill. Owing to public safety, many ace designers have shut down their workshops and stores for an indefinite period of time.
In tough times like these, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) along with the Lakme Fashion Week has taken a lead to set up a COVID-19 Support Fund that will provide financial assistance to the fashion industry as a whole. “A delightful outcome of a healthy discussion - Lakme Fashion Week joins hands with the FDCI to help the design fraternity during these testing times. The COVID-19 Support Fund with the help of our sponsors, eminent designers, and corporate houses will enable the style world to cope with the devastation, the pandemic has wrecked. #InThisTogether”, their statement read.
Posting the official announcement on their social media account, the Lakme Fashion Week, as well, has extended its support and endorsements towards the COVID-19 Fund that will aid the small businessman and young designer in need. “Lakme Fashion Week supports and endorses the FDCI COVID-19 Support Fund. Please connect with the Fashion Design Council of India in case you would like to support the fashion industry through these challenging times in any manner.”
In this together indeed!
