The outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic, the fashion industry along with the others have come to a standstill. In the wake of such situations, many designers and fashion institutions have joined forces to do their bit in this ‘war against virus’
Following the footsteps of international fashion labels such as Ralph Lauren, Armani, Prada, Fendi, LVMH, amongst many others, designer Anita Dongre announced to be making face masks for the fight against Coronavirus.
Anita took it to her social media to make an announcement for the same. She said 24 of her women employees from two community tailoring units have offered services in creating protective face masks. She also ensured that all social norms and hygiene measures during this time. ‘Starting this week, 24 of our women employees from two of our community tailoring units in Charoti and Dhanevari have offered their services in creating protective face masks to meet the needs of the community at large. All social distancing norms and hygiene measures will be followed during this time.’, read an excerpt from her statement.
She also said that these tailoring units are a part of Anita Dongre Foundation’s larger efforts that provide employment to the rural communities. They will now be producing reusable cloth masks for the local masses and will also be producing special disposable masks for doctors, nurses and medical staff. ‘These community tailoring units are a part of Anita Dongre Foundation’s larger efforts to provide employment to rural communities, which will now be producing reusable cloth masks, and will also be producing special disposable masks for doctors, nurses and medical staff at the request of local hospitals in the area.’, read her statement.
