To relive the glitziest red carpet affair, Vogue Magazine and Billy Porter ask fans to recreate iconic looks for the ‘Met Gala Challenge’

In an alternate reality, fashionistas all over the world would have been ecstatic with the first Monday of May approaching as it meant witnessing the glitziest red carpet affair of all times – Met Gala! But alas, with the spreading wrath of COVID-19 Pandemic, this high-end fashion affair which was scheduled on May 4^th, is postponed indefinitely.

Even though we cannot experience the red-carpet goodness of this affair we can recreate it with the help of the #MetGalaChallenge. Due credit to Vogue Magazine and Billy Porter, who kept the zest and fashion spirit alive by starting this challenge in the fashion month!

With this year’s annual #MetGala (normally held on the First Monday in May) postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are mourning what is typically one of the glitziest red carpet events of the year. The star-studded affair was supposed to be held on May 4 this year and in the past, it has produced some iconic red carpet looks. For those still craving the glamour and extravagance that usually comes with the night, however, we are teaming up with @theebillyporter on a new Instagram challenge that pays tribute to the night’s peacocking spirit: Meet the #MetGalaChallenge. The task is simple: recreate your favorite red carpet look from a past #MetGala at home. Which ensemble you replicate, and what you use to make it, is entirely up to you—think outside of the box! To explain what the challenge is all about, Vogue took it to its social media and posted a video of Billy addressing the fans. ‘With this year’s annual #MetGala (normally held on the First Monday in May) postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are mourning what is typically one of the glitziest red carpet events of the year.’ Read an excerpt from the caption.

In the video, Billy asked the fans and followers to pick an iconic look from years passed and recreate them at home. “Pick an iconic Met Gala look from years passed and recreate it in your home”, Billy said.

He further addressed that it could either be a Rihanna, Lady Gaga, or…him! "It can be Rihanna, it can be Gaga, it can be ... me. But you best be creative.”, he added.

Calling it the ‘challenge of all challenges’ he asked the fellow viewers to submit the entries till May 3^rd and the best looks would be featured in Vogue. “You have till May 3^rd to enter. Post with #MetGalaChallenge. You might just find yourself in Vogue, darling."

So fashionistas, ditch those jammies and open the closet and recreate some of the best MET looks, you could win a chance to feature in Vogue!
