With the world gradually coming back to the ‘new normalcy’ amidst Unlock 1, the film and the fashion fraternity have resumed its operations, adhering to the safety instructions. In one of the shoots post-pandemic, Bollywood’s well-known makeup artist Mickey Contractor gave a glimpse of how it looks like working in a new ‘world with virus’
On Tuesday, Mickey shared a picture of himself from the shoot where he was seen wearing a face shield and a PPE suit. Stating that this is how it’s going to be for a while at the sets, he said he has been wearing it for 2 hours and can’t wait to rip it off! “Hats off to all the health care workers who have been doing this since months,” Mickey captioned his post.
In an interview with a leading daily, Mickey said that these suits were given to the entire team as soon as they reached the sets. Sharing his experience of working in a PPE suit, he said, “It’s not like one can’t work wearing a PPE suit, but it is challenging. It can make anyone feel uneasy, hot and claustrophobic. We were shooting on an air-conditioned floor, but it still felt very hot. You can’t visit the washroom often as you have to get the suit off, and you also shouldn’t touch its outer surface at any given point of time. I salute the health workers who have been wearing these for months now. I love my work, and I can wear the suit again if my work demands, but if I have to wear it for more than 10 days in a month, and that too, for a 12-hour stretch, I might reconsider working on a project like that. I hope this is not a prolonged new normal. However, right now, it’s a must because safety comes first.”
That apart, I must have sanitized my hands 27-28 times during the entire duration of the shoot,” added Mickey.
