Karl Lagerfeld has been a very important name in the fashion fraternity. One has to be really living under a rock to not know about his achievements and fashion journey. To continue the legacy of the iconic designer, his personal assistant and bodyguard, Sébastian Jondeau is all set to publish a book about him. Titled Ça va, cher Karl?, this book will be published by French literary house Flammarion on January 27, 2020.
To write this 220- page book, Sébastian was assisted by Virginie Mouzat, a fashion critic at Le Figaro and contributor to Vanity Fair France. This memoir documents three decades of life between the author and the iconic designer. Not going by the chronology of the events, the narrative of this book follows Sébastian’s flow of memories. He shared some bittersweet moments like the discovery of the designer’s health issues and the close bond shared by the duo, similar to the one shared by a father and son.
Young Sébastian’s first encounter with Karl occurred when he was just 15 years old and was called to move the furniture from the 18th century. Under the designer’s employment, Sébastian got the chance to model for Chanel and pose in campaigns.
Karl died in February 2019 leaving a void in the fashion fraternity. Though there are many books published on the iconic designer’s legacy, Sébastian’s is said to be the first one to have intimate details and memories from Karl’s life. Are you excited to read this one?
