Looks like Rihanna can’t catch a break. The popstar turned beauty entrepreneur has been lately making headlines and not for all the right reasons. Post Farmer’s Protest backlash and Fenty Beauty audit outrage, the pop sensation has managed to face flak from Twitter yet again!
Posing for her lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, Rihanna went topless wearing just a pair of lilac satin shots. Well, so far nothing unusual! The trouble began when she chose to accessorize her look with a neckpiece that bore a diamond-studded Lord Ganesha pendant. Netizens were quick to notice the neckpiece and they surely didn’t take it with high spirits. Moments after she posted the picture, the internet tribe called out Riri for using ‘their religion as her aesthetic.’

Check out some of the enraged tweets here:

Super offensive wearing Ganesha like that. My first god, a holy sentiment to millions of people celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi every year. Sorry RiRi, you disappointed me and others.

Not just the Twitter tribe, Riri also faced flak from BJP leader Ram Kadam. “It’s appalling to see how @Rihanna shamefully mocks our beloved Hindu God #Ganesha. This exposes how #Rihanna has no idea or respect for Indian culture, tradition and our issues here. Hopefully, at least now @RahulGandhi and other Congress leaders will stop taking help from her”, he wrote.

Rihanna still hasn’t commented on this whole fiasco and we wonder what is going to be her statement on this. Cultural appropriation hasn’t been quite a new concept for the pop-star but this escalated on a whole new level indeed. What are your thoughts on this one?
