Monochrome mod to punk - Chanel Cruise 2021/22 and YSL Winter 2021 collections hit the runway, reminisce the fashion eras of the past!

Chanel’s Cruise 2021/22 by Virginie Viard and the YSL Winter 2021 by Anthony Vaccarello collections saw the light of the runway and we are definitely stunned at the gorgeous pieces created for the shows. Both collections bring in an old but not forgotten mix of elements and styles that brought forth some good memories, with the fishnets, chain-link garters, chokers and lip rings.

Mixing a little punk with grunge fashion, the monochrome line imbibed various elements of both, the 80s and 90s era of fashion, starting from the color palettes to the accessories attached and chosen for styling. The intense dark liners and eye-covering fringe and messy hairstyle bringing back some of the late 2000s punk fashion.

The fringe look with the graphic prints gave the Chanel collection a whole 80s punk rock feel. It was an interesting turn to see this change in fashion and styling, reviving some dearly loved eras. The striking black and white miniskirts, dresses, coats, and suits give the collection an edge (pun intended) over other fashion lines.

Fashion truly does move in a cycle, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, the YSL line added a little more pop of color, however, at the core, they still stuck to a rebellious grunge style of cuts and clothing, a style choice that stayed constant with the outfits is the shoes. Black pointed belles with a golden tip was a subtle but intentional statement. You cannever go wrong with a little black and gold!

Is punk, grunge, and MOD making a comeback? With the elements of black and white in the newest collections, we sure hope so!
