2021 indeed closed with a banger with our beloved Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif a.k.a ‘VicKat’ tying the knot. After dating each other in utmost secrecy, the lovebirds solidified their commitment to each other on December 9 at Six Senses Resort Barwara, in Rajasthan. And we glad they did, after all, how else would we have been gifted as a visual treat of our dearest Kat turning into a Sabyasachi bride?!
Taking a traditional route, Katrina transformed into a quintessential Punjabi bride in a classic red bridal lehenga with inscribed Kaleeras and vintage jewels. Dressed by the most sought-after designer and bridal couturier in Bollywood, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, she left us spellbound with her phenomenal look.
In a recent interview with a leading magazine, Sabya spilled out all the intricate details about the thought process that went down in finalizing Katrina’s bridal look. Calling his bridal muse ‘methodical and meticulous’ Sabya said that her minute, detailed planning helped him interpret her vision. “I love working with couples who know who they are and what they want. Katrina is methodical and meticulous, and that made it easy for me to interpret their vision through my aesthetic. They are aware of their heritage and personal expression, and meld the two together in a most authentic way, which aligns perfectly with my own vision as a designer,” said the designer.
Sabya also gave an interesting detail about the bride and the groom’s wedding looks. Both of them did not know what their significant other was wearing until the day of their wedding! “The bride and groom didn't see what the other was wearing until the day of the wedding, so it was beautiful to witness how in sync their visions were even as we worked on their ensembles, separately,” Sabya concluded. And yet, they managed to look good together, fitting like a yin and yang. Knowing each other’s tastes, preferences and choices without asking them using the words…if this isn’t love, we don’t know what is.
