Just a few weeks before the fashion storm hit us again in the form of the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's, MET Gala! All set to take place on May 2nd, the ‘Oscars of Fashion’ will return to its usual scheduling with celebrities gracing the red carpet going all out at this flamboyant affair.
While waiting for this extraordinary style soiree is excruciating, the little details of the gala make keeping patience somewhat better. After the theme, ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion,’ Vogue has now unveiled the dress code for this year’s fashion affair! Check it out:
Keeping up with the theme as well as the grandeur of the occasion, the star-studded guest list would be asked to follow the dress code of ‘gilded glamour, white-tie.’ “To celebrate “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” the second volume in a two-part Costume Institute exhibition, the 2022 Met Gala will ask its attendees to embody the grandeur, and perhaps the dichotomy, of Gilded Age New York,” read the caption of its post.
The magazine’s writer Elise Taylor added, “Colors were rich and deep jewel tones. Lighter colors were only worn only at home, as they were impractical while walking in the streets of New York. Hats were a necessity when going out and often were adorned with feathers.” More key fashion items include corsets, which women commonly used until the 1890s. Wardrobes also included sportswear and leisurewear, thanks to the rise of sports such as bicycling and tennis, in addition to extravagant gowns.”
Held on May 2, the exhibit will be open to the public till May 7. Both part one and two themes will be on the display at the museum until September 5.
