Ever since Kim Kardashian wore the iconic Marylin Monroe dress to The MET Gala 2022, she has been making headlines both for good and not-so-good reasons. From double-ended debates to the diva’s platinum blonde lock being fake, controversies around her MET look seem never-ending. And now there’s more in the store!
Bob Mackie, who sketched the original design of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Jean Louis gown that the diva wore to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy in 1962 is not pleased with Kim Kardashian re-wearing it to the soiree.
Mackie feels that Kim wearing the iconic dress was a ‘big mistake.’ “I thought it was a big mistake,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “(Marilyn) was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress,” he said, as reported by Hypebae.
A few weeks ago, Riverdale actress slammed the fashion mogul for going on a crash diet and losing 16 pounds to fit into that dress. “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala [when] you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word … (the) ignorance is other-worldly disgusting,” she posted on her Instagram Stories.
