Queen Elizabeth laid to rest alongside her late husband Prince Philip, Meghan Markle gets teary-eyed; Buckingham Palace releases unseen vintage picture of Britain's longest-serving monarch

Heartbreaking scenes unfolded as Queen Elizabeth II's coffin was carried out for her final journey on Monday. During the state funeral at London's Westminster Abbey, the royal family bade farewell to Britain's longest-serving monarch as they celebrated her 'life of service, love and faith'.

The queen passed away on September 8 at the age of 96. Reportedly, she was buried right next to her husband Prince Philip in the King George VI Memorial Chapel within the St George’s Chapel. Prince Philip’s coffin was apparently moved from its original place and interred alongside Queen Elizabeth.

Ahead of the funeral, King Charles II said in a statement, "We were moved beyond measure by everyone who took the trouble to come and pay their respects to the lifelong service of my dear mother, The late Queen."

While the queen's coffin was being taken out, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, got teary-eyed. In pictures from the funeral, one can see her wiping off her tears.

After the funeral, Buckingham Palace released an unseen vintage photo of Queen Elizabeth which was clicked in 1971. In the picture, she can be seen wearing a green coat and printed head scarf.

Post the queen's demise, the shoot of The Crown's latest season was put on hold.
