Arnaud Carrez, Cartier’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement, “As an inspiring actress and committed philanthropist, Deepika embodies the Maison’s spirit and values of celebrating creativity, universality, and open-mindedness.”

The action indicates Cartier's goals to increase its domestic and international customer base among Indians. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation, a development trust funded by the Indian government, the size of the nation's gems and jewellery market was estimated to be $79 billion last year.

To capture more of the market Companies like Cartier spends a lot of money to increase their reach by signing elite people. Rival Tiffany asked Beyoncé and Jay-Z to revamp the brand as more contemporary and culturally relevant when LVMH obtained it.

Beyond Deepika's star power, the jewellery giant claimed that it was drawn to her commitment to philanthropy and female empowerment. She founded the Live Love Laugh Foundation, an organization that has worked to de-stigmatize mental health concerns in India since 2015.
