Fashion, passion and compassion engulfed you as famed fashion designer and woman with a heart of gold Maheka Mirpuri presented the 10th edition of her MCan (Move for Cancer Awareness) in association with Tata Memorial Hospital.
The razzle-dazzle was on at the Taj heritage hotel with guests trooping into the Ballroom to spread cheer and camaraderie over champagne, fine wines and luxury spirits at the bar. Later, the action moved to the Crystal Room that was beautifully bedecked and admired by one and all.
It was time for the auction, ably conducted by Karan Johar, with guests generously bidding for luxury items and lifestyle experiences. You heard that Maheka has raised over Rs 8 crore for the hospital so far, and with this latest edition it has expanded tremendously (over Rs. 1 crore at this auction). Yes, the time was just right to usher in a new era of compassion in the current turbulent times. The idea is to help the underprivileged at Tata Memorial Hospital as well as raise awareness about the disease that can surface anytime. With MCan, the endeavour is to strive to increase the survival rate of people affected by cancer to a true cure.
Tata Memorial Hospital, one of the biggest cancer centres in the world, registers more than 43,000 new cancer patients every year, with 63 per cent being given highly subsidized treatment.
Yes, at this 10th edition of MCan there was a fashion show with models gracefully gliding across the aisles and into your heart, all bedecked in Maheka Mirpuri’s classy and chic creations.
Later, it was time for more drinks at the bar and a fabulous buffet spread. And the action included mesmerizing music spun by DJ Bosco D’Souza. All in all, it was a perfect 10 night to remember!
