If we ever had the chance to morph into another human being, it’s safe to say that Elle Woods would be on the top of our list. Not only is she a queen in her own right, but she can rock a pink ensemble on any day of the week and she is a freakin’ lawyer! After two successful movies to its name, Legally Blonde has become one of our favourite movies of all time… but it’s not over just yet! Hold your horses as the decision is finally ruled in favour of the fans! Legally Blonde 3 is officially in the works!
The actress confirmed that MGM is making a long-rumoured third installment to her popular movie franchise by sharing a video on her social media that shows her floating on a pool raft while wearing her signature classic pink bikini, the same as one from her Harvard submission video essay. “It’s true … #LegallyBlonde3,” the actress captioned the eight-second clip.

Witherspoon, 42, isn’t the only member of the original Legally Blonde team, who’s been linked to the third installment. Writers Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah were also reportedly in discussions to return after penning the screenplay for the first movie based on the Amanda Brown novel. However, McCullah and Smith were not the writers behind the second film, so it's not yet known if the third film will incorporate the events of 2003's Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.
Witherspoon will produce the film through her own production company, Hello Sunshine, and is expected to release it during Valentine's Day, next year.
The actress starred as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy, in which the fashion merchandising student enrols in Harvard Law School to try to win back her ex-boyfriend. With plenty of pink outfits, scented papers and her little dog, Bruiser, by her side, she not only got through every challenge thrown her way, but she got her degree and realised how awful her ex really was.
The movie also starred Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber and Jennifer Coolidge, and we hope they come back for the third installment.
The original film released in 2001 grossed 141 million dollar worldwide as the sequel in 2003 saw 125 million dollar.
Better get your bend and snap ready, ladies and gentlebeans for this one!
