First Look Revealed: Gal Gadot and Chris Pine return for Wonder Woman 1984

Stepping back into the director's chair, Patty Jenkins is all set to helm the sequel to Warner Bros' Wonder Woman titled, Wonder Woman 1984.

Gadot and Jenkins shared two pictures from the upcoming DC film which has already begun its principal photography and will begin shooting in parts of the US and the UK. While Gadot, who plays Diana Prince, is seen overlooking a wall of television screen featuring 1984 imagery, Chris Pine is resurrected as Steve Trevor.

The film will also star Game of Thrones star, Pedro Pascal, in an unspecified Role. Playing the villainous role will be Kristen Wiig who will step into the shoes of Cheetah, who is a longtime archenemy of Wonder Woman.

Steve Trevor sacrificed himself for the greater good and to teach Wonder Woman about love and humanity in the first film. It's unclear how Trevor will return for the new film, which takes place 70 years after he died, but Pine is confirmed to star as the World War I vet.

Details about the Wonder Woman 2 story are scarce, but Warner Bros. did provide this little tidbit: "Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah."

Gadot's Wonder Woman last appeared on-screen in 2017's Justice League, where she helped Batman, Superman, The Flash, and Cyborg battle Steppenwolf. The film took place in the modern era and didn't mention Wonder Woman's time on Earth in the 1980s.

Last month, Warner Bros. purchased numerous website domain names for the sequel, including wonderwoman1984.com, wonderwomanlives.com and wonderwomanreturns.com, igniting fevered speculation about the title.

The Expendables co-writer, Dave Callaham has written the script based on a treatment developed by Jenkins and DC president and creative chief officer, Geoff Johns. Wonder Woman 1984 is slated to hit theatres on November 1, 2019.
