In 100 days, the king arrives: Watch the brand new trailer of The Lion King

With exactly 100 days before Disney’s The Lion King hits theatres, the first full length trailer of the live-action remake has been dropped by the makers. The film is the remake of the iconic animated film The Lion King released in 1994. The trailer gives us a lot more action and mirrors the opening sequence of the original animated version with Circle of Life playing in the background above a soaring sunrise. The film is directed by Jon Favreau and journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born.

While the first teaser had voice-over by King Mufasa (by James Earl Jones), the new trailer introduces a few other characters as well. The film’s star-studded voice cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumba, and Billy Eichner as Timon.

The trailer begins with Simba and Nala treading into Scar’s lair where he is seen flanked by his hyenas. The trailer also shows the well-known Mufasa’s dying scene in the stampede and Rafiki discovering that Simba is alive after his exile. And yeah, the scene where Simba and Nala discover their feelings for each other that prelude to the iconic Can You Feel The Love Tonight also makes an appearance. The playful duo of Timon and Pumba also make an appearance and so does the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

The Lion King is all set to release on July 19 and we’re sure more than the children and teenagers it’s the young adults who are more excited for the film’s release.
