Nothing in this world that I like more than cheques. The first trailer of Hustlers is out and it is the stripper heist film we all deserve! The heels are stacked and so is the cast, including Jennifer Lopez on screen after three years, Crazy Rich Asian's Constance Wu, Riverdale's Lili Reinhart and surprise elements in the form of rappers Cardi B and Lizzo.
Hustlers is based on a 2015 New York magazine article by Jessica Pressler, "The Hustlers at Scores". The film focuses on a group of strippers who are fed up with the Wall Street men who contributed to the financial crisis but didn't experience any consequences themselves. Strapped for cash, the women decide to even things out by stealing from the men who come to their strip club, with Cardi's hit song Money playing in the background.
J-Lo plays the ringleader, telling her fellow dancers that “The game is rigged. It’s like robbing a bank; except you get the keys," and when Jennifer asks if you’re in, you say yes. In this trailer alone, the actor-singer expertly teaches the basics of pole dancing, which immediately elevates this film to Oscar status.
Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, the script is set in the late 2000s in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis and explores the toll it took on the livelihood of the dancers who relied on Wall Street clientele. "We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast," Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms, said in a statement.
Hustlers is out on September 13, 2019. Watch the first trailer here:
